Scenic Flight Sunshine Coast
' Sea Eagle Options'
Come and follow the sea eagle on his flight along the beautiful Sunshine coastline heading north to Fraser Island .
The Sea Eagle is one of the most majestic birds in the world having a span of 2.5 metres of most perfectly designed wings.
He takes off from the unique Glass House Mountains which are some of the youngest features on the Sunshine Coast, they are volcanic in origin and only 25,000 years young.
Our Sea Eagle soars off, orbiting over the group thinking of their Dreamtime story, given by the Aborigines, all of them being a family. Today Tibrogargan gazes far out to sea and never looks around at Coonawrin, who hangs his head and cries, his tears running off to the sea. His mother Beerwah, is still heavy with child, as it takes a long time to give birth to a mountain.
Wondering if Captain Cook in 1770 knew the Aboriginal story when he named these silent sentinels the Glass House Mountains.
We follow our sea eagle as he heads towards the ocean and Caloundra's beaches looking back to the Blackall Ranges that show themselves in lush green growth.
As he approaches Dicky Beach he takes a look south over Bribie Island and East over Morton Bay taking in this lovely island view. He watches the busy happenings at Kawana Waters and glides down from 2500ft to 1500ft to overfly the many yachts at Mooloolaba Warf. He takes a look at the surf and along the Maroochy river then soars across to Mudjimba Island to watch the big metal birds he heard so much about taking off at the airport.
Our sea eagle lifts off his island tree top deciding to fly along the beaches of Mt Coolum, Peregian and Noosa. Just off Alexandria Bay the eastern sea boundary of Noosa National Park, he circles over a big family of dolphins and listens to their stories for a little while, then takes a look at what's happening in Hasting Street at 9.45am this morning.
He lowers his beautiful left wing and gets more lift under his right while he is flying his perfect 15 degree angle of bank, gliding past Noosa's River mouth and the busy boats heading for the harbour and Tewantin. He lifts his head to his left and glimpses at Mt Cooroy, therewith turns his view back onto 45 mile Beach.
Many cars driving along the beach heading his direction. Here and there are some fishermen. As he gets closer to Double Island Point our sea eagle thinks about the Cherry Venture shipwreck. He had watched it beaching during that big storm, he had found a safe sand dune to sit in protected from the winds anger.
Today people come and stop for a look at this old rusty reminder of a very stormy night at the Coloured Sands
We follow our sea eagle looking at the lovely old lighthouse still serving ships ashore since early 1850 the same way.
The sunlight is just perfect this morning brilliantly exposing the many different coloured sand dunes at Rainbow Beach.
The barges are busy at Inskip Point taking vehicles across to Fraser Island's Southern tip.
There is the island just a few wing spans away. Stretching over 120KM with stunning fresh water lakes spread all over the island between the trees, in valleys and amongst the rolling hills. Our sea eagle gets all thrilled. He remembers the fantastic fish meals and the beautiful crystal clear fresh water running as numerous creeks back into the ocean where he had eaten and drunk before. The long and pondering times he spent sitting in a tree on the island's east coast watching the surf, the dingos, the many birds that live on the island, as well as his friends that are passing through on their journeys South or North and stop by for they know this place as 'K'gari' or 'Paradise' by the aborigines.
